i feel like i've accomplished something today.  i did the fs trial 2 u maths (3 hrs) and got 91% and i also found and analysed a supplementary text.

say hi to pon and zi =)

  • Although there is a visible beginning to the rungs of the ladder, it continues indefinitely out of the frame of the cartoon, suggesting that it is clear where to embark on an imaginative journey, but the destination of an imaginative journey is often uncertain.
  • The character, Pon, attempts to climb the ladder, a metaphor for the imaginative journey. As the ladder appears to be tactile and tangible, possessing a shadow, Pon physically embarks on the journey.  This is also represented in The Tempest, when Stephano, Trinculo and Caliban is misdirected on a physical journey, hypnotised by noises present only in their imagination, induced by Ariel.  This physical journey leads them to Prospero's cell, where they are punished for conspiring to assassinate Prospero. This suggests that an imaginative journey can often be mistaken for a physical journey, presenting significant consequences as there is a disparity between the purpose of physical and imaginative journeys.
  • The cartoon also suggests that by embarking on an imaginative journey, one is able to obtain new realisations, "so that they will return to the place from which they came blessed and altered" as conveyed by The Town Where Time Stands Still.  Pon's journey caused him to discover the love he had for Zi and realise that his destination is not where the ladder leads, but towards his love, on the ground.  This causes him to disconnect himself from the rungs of the ladder, the leap in the air symbolising the nullification of physical limits of an imaginative journey.
